Programs
There are numerous software programs that can be used to create the
HTML pages used on web sites. I will discuss the four that
I have available to me, and perhaps one of these will be just right
for you.
Notepad---This program is available on
Windows 95 or 98. With this word processor, you must
learn the HTML code as described in the Example pages
shown to the left.
This method takes the most time to learn, but gives the best
results, for you are not limited by any constraints
except your own knowledge.
Office 97--- This program is the easiest to use, but also
the most limited. With this program, you mearly
create a typical word processor page with words,
pictures, etc. Then when you save the page, save it as
an html page and it immediately is ready to go on
your web site.
Mirosoft FrontPage 98 or 2000 --- Either of these programs ($150) are
quick to use and have several features I like. My only complaint
is that I find it somewhat confusing to edit the HTML pages
once they are created. Also, the program induces you to make large
pages, which load slowly.
I think one's time is best spent learning HTML programming rather than
learning the complexity's of FrontPage.
Corel Web Designer --- An older program (1996), but easy to use and
it gives reasonable results. Try it, if you can find a copy.
